When my son, Gus first got his ostomy in December of 2007, he was young enough that overalls were still really adorable on him. However, as he grew, I started to have problems finding sizes large enough for him. I also had a strong desire to dress him in something with a waist band. I was unable to tuck the bag in his pants without having leaks and couldn't find any solution other than dressing Gus in big shirts and hoping no one noticed the end of the bag under his shirt!
I searched for a product to give me the freedom I was seeking but was largely disappointed at the limited choices available. The few items I found were either not appropriate for a child or did not offer the functionality I was looking for. As a result, I began to make my own covers and gave some to friends as well. It was the encouragement of these friends as well as therapists, nurses, and doctors that eventually led me to share my idea with a larger audience. I was pleased to find considerable interest in them, and as a result, Gus Gear was born.
The product line expanded to include pump bag covers, line covers and other accessories that we employ with Gus every day. Each item is completely hand crafted with attention to detail. Gus Gear is constructed with quality fabrics that, when properly cared for, will hold up over time. We are very proud of and pleased with these wonderful products and are sure you will be too.
